Typically, what happens is you will be given the difference between the strike price and the current market price, as clearly the Writer of the Option cannot physically deliver a curreny pair at an older, lesser price than the market. So they owe to indemnify you, or place in you in a financial position similar to that as if you have the currency pair at the current market value.
Now as for option contracts, YOU DO NOT need to exercise them if they are about to expire. That would make no sense, as if they are 'out-the-money' you would lose money. A contract can expire, leaving you out the contract's premium.

Hope this helped

There are lots of people that make some serious money just trading currencies. The best place to start is to join a local Forex investment group that is active in your state-area... There is one in Metro-Detroit that I am part of and I am sure there are others...
Until then take a few lessons here
http://www.babypips.com/
start with preschool and finish High School. After that I believe you would be more informed than someone that took a weekend seminar for $2,000 , and you can do it for free...
You can also open a practice account and see how you are doing...it doesn't cost you a dime to practice..... If you make money in a practice account on consistent basis, you will make money in a real account also..
Here you can open a practice account

you cannot simply learn forex trading by the responses to your question. you need to read an ebook on forex and or much better speak to a live person over the phone, email or chat with other expert traders. visit this site to get a free ebook for you to read, read and learn. you can also avail of the services of a personal Account Service manager by registering as a trader. learn the trade first before jumping. good luck.

If you want a quick return on your money then trading in cfd,s is the way to go.
You dont actually buy shares as such but buy a contract on the assets.
You then earn or lose money on the opening and closing price of the asset.
Many people have got rich very quick from cfd's but there is also the risk of losing money quickly.
Finding a broker will help as they can advice you on stops that sell when the
asset falls below a certain amount you can afford to lose.
you can find more information at

The trading theories are the same as stocks but the market is manipulated by central banks and governmental policies. Ergo correct fundamental analysis can prove meaningless.

In my opinion currency market is more difficult to trade than stock market. If you refer to FX market you must remember that this is non-regulated environment.

Obviously it`s impossible to describe major factors of currency trading in this post. The best you can do as beginner is to find broker allowing you to play with little money (mini contracts - like oanda.com and many others). This way you get sense of what you can expect without paying too much for your lesson.
